    Drafting

    Player Draft Eligibility
    - Any players included in our player projections.
    - Any Players on an NFL roster.

Players that are missing from the drafting list will be added to the waiver wire during the course of the season as needed. Players will be listed on draft cards at the position that they are expected to play most often during the upcoming year, based on the best information available at the time of the game's release.  Players will not switch positions or add another position of eligibility once they have been entered into the game database.

    Draft Card
    - The first step in the draft process is to specify how many roster slots you want to draft at each position.  You will use your Draft Card to do this and you can click on the Set Draft Card link in order to make changes to the Draft Card settings anytime prior to your draft.

    - Keeper league - teams will have up to three (3) players earmarked as Keepers going into the draft.  These players will be be used as the basis for forming the rest of the team, but the players being marked as Keepers still need to be accounted for in the Draft Card setup. For example, if your team was going to keep 2 RB and 1 QB from last year, and you planned on drafting 3 additional RBs and 1 additional QB (giving you 5 RB and 2 QB on your post-draft roster), then your Draft Card would need to be set to 5 for RBs and 2 for QBs in order to make sure your selections are made correctly should the Draft Card come into play.

    - All teams will draft a roster of twenty (20) players, eleven (11) of which can play on the active roster at one time. The table below lists the positions to be drafted as well as the maximum and minimum number of players you can draft at each position.

    - Note:The total number of Draft Choices must equal 20 or your draft card will not be updated and default settings will be used.

    Player Rankings
    - The second step in the drafting process is to rank the players at each position. Use the Set Rankings link to do so. This feature is totally up to you; if you do not wish to rank the players yourself, default rankings will be used at the time of the draft. Default rankings are based on the Sandbox Scoring System, using our experts' player projections.

    - If you are using a Multi-List draft, then each position has to be separately ranked. If you are using a Single List or live draft, all players are ranked together regardless of position. If player rankings are not changed, the system will use the default rankings.

    Draft Types
There are 4 different types of drafts options available in Full Contact:

    • Fast Live Draft - (this Shockwave based system gives each team 2 or 3 minutes to make a selection)
    • Slow Live Draft - (this Shockwave based system gives each team 12 or 24 hours to make a selection)
    • Single List - (uses a system-generated program run by Sandbox - you are not required to be in front of your computer in order to draft)
    • Multi List - (uses a system-generated program run by Sandbox - you are not required to be in front of your computer in order to draft)

Note: There is not a specific option available to Draft “Offline” and have the League Commissioner or a member of the league manually enter the players onto their respective rosters. However, a league that holds an offline draft can still get set up in Full Contact very easily by choosing a Single List draft.  In a Single List Draft, each team ranks the players they drafted in their "Offline" draft as their top 20 players and sets their draft card to match up positionally with the players they drafted. If each team does this correctly, the draft will come out exactly as the offline draft went.

    Fast Live Draft
A draft is considered a Fast Live draft when each team owner has two (2) minutes to make a player selection depending on their league settings.  The draft takes place using an Shockwave web page and you will need to download the Shockwave software in order to participate. Click here to download SHOCKWAVE. Also, you will need to make preparations to be online at your computer during the entire course of the draft. Unless, you put your team on autopilot. Then your picks will be based off your rankings. If you did not set your personal rankings then the default rankings will be used.

    Slow Live Draft
A draft is considered a Slow Live draft when a team owner had (12) or (24) hours between picks.   The draft takes place using an Shockwave web page and you will need to download the Shockwave software in order to participate. Click here to download SHOCKWAVE. Also, you will need to make preparations to be online at your computer during the entire course of the draft.

    Single-List Draft
This type of draft is also done by our draft program and it does not require that you be in front of a computer at the scheduled time of the draft. Unlike the Multi-list draft, the Single List draft will rank all players together on one master list instead of at separate positions.

To rank the players, simply choose a position that you would like to rank, then select the desired player(s) and click the Move >> button in the rank players column. Once you have a list of players in your Rankings, you may change their position on your list by clicking on the player’s name and moving them up or down within that list. When you have the players ranked in the order you want them, hit the Save Changes button at the bottom of the screen to save any changes you have made.

A random draft order is determined by Sandbox when your league is created. If your League is a returning league the draft order will be the reverse of last year's standings. Every team will then follow this order to draft a roster of 20 players. The first round of the draft will pick the highest ranked player left from your rankings.

The first team to pick will get the player they have ranked first on their master list added to their roster. That player is then taken off of all the other teams’ draft list. The second team will then draft and get the highest ranked player left on their draft card. Each time a team picks, their highest ranked player, still available at a position that has not yet reached the maximum set by the player, will be added to the roster. After the draft is completed all teams will have a 20-man roster. All players not drafted will be placed on waivers and can be picked up using the Waiver Wire.

    Multi-List Draft
This type of draft is done by our draft program and it does not require that you be in front of a computer at the scheduled time of the draft. There are two major steps to using the Multi-List draft. First, you must choose how many players you want to draft at each of the roster spots using the Multi List Draft Card. Then you can rank the players at the following positions using the Player Rankings section:

    Players to Be Drafted
    AFC QB
    NFC QB
    AFC RB
    NFC RB
    AFC WR
    NFC WR
    TE
    DB
    DL/LB
    K

To rank the players, simply choose a position that you would rank, then select the desired  player(s) and click the Move >> button in the rank players column. Once you have a list of players in your Rankings, you may change their on your list by clicking on the player’s name and moving them up or down within that list. When you have the players ranked in the order you want them, hit the Save Changes button at the bottom of the screen to save any changes you have made.

A random draft order is determined by Sandbox when your league is created.  The order you will see will be the order that you will have the #1 pick at a position, however you will not know which positions are selected first by the draft program, so these numbers are somewhat meaningless.  Within each position, the draft order will be different and it will run in a 'snake' format so that once every owner has drafted once at that position, the draft order will be reversed for the subsequent picks at that position. The draft will reverse again if there is a third round of picks at that position, based on people's Draft Cards.  The draft will continue until it runs through all 10 positions and all teams’ rosters are full.

In smaller 8- or 10-team leagues, every team will get to pick first at at least one position.  In larger 12- or 14-team leagues, some teams will not have a #1 pick at a position. MULTI-LIST DRAFTS WORK BEST IN 10-TEAM LEAGUES, WHICH ENSURES EVERY TEAM 1 AND ONLY 1 TOP PICK AT A POSITION - all other leagues will involve some slight advantages for some teams, inherent in the drafting process, due to the number of teams being greater or smaller than the number of positions being drafted.

After the draft is completed all teams will have a 20-man roster. All players not drafted will be placed on waivers and can be picked up using the Waiver Wire.

    Draft Dates
Leagues may draft anytime, starting July 19th, 2006.  The league creator will choose the Draft Date and Time, though those may be changed anytime outside of 48 hours from the draft's scheduled start time. If the league is not filled at the time the draft is supposed to begin, then the draft date will be moved back one week. A league set to “Draft When Full” will begin the draft 48 hours after the league becomes full.

    Drafting After Week 1
Any leagues which draft after the transaction deadline for Week 1, have the option of getting retroactive stats for any previous week's games or can start the season at the Week in which the league drafted. This setting is available to the League Creator in the Edit League Settings Section.

    Public/Private Leagues

    Public Leagues:
If the league creator specifies that the league is a Public League then there are no restrictions on who can join this league. If there is an open spot in the league any Sandbox user can claim it.

    Private Leagues:
If the league creator specifies that the league is a Private League then access to this league is restricted. In order to join this league, a Sandbox user must have the league creator provide him or her with a password in order to join. The League Creator has control over some settings in the league as long as the league continues to be Private.  If the League Creator changes the league to Public then the League Creator does not have control over those setting any longer.

    Keeper/Non-Keeper Leagues

    Keeper Leagues from 2005:
Upon logging into the game, each team owner has the ability to access their 2005 final roster and select his/her Keeper players to carryover into the 2006 season by clicking on the Edit Keepers link at the bottom of the League settings section of your League home page.  Owners may change their Keeper selections up until the date of the draft.  Teams may keep up to 3 players on their team from last year's roster.  The League Creator also has the ability to add and remove keepers for their own team and all others in the league.

Starting a New Keeper League in 2006:
In a Full Contact Keeper League that starts in 2006, each team will start with a blank roster, though at the end of the season they will be allowed to keep up 3 players from their final roster to carry over into the 2007 season.  There are no restrictions as to how many consecutive years a player may be kept on a teams roster.  You will be able to specify which players you want to keep after the 2006 season has ended, and up until your league's 2007 draft date.

    Starting a Non-Keeper League in 2006:
In a Full Contact Non-Keeper League that starts in 2006, each team will start with a blank roster.  all 20  players will be added to the roster through the draft and no players on your final roster will be available to be carried over into the 2007 season.

    Playoff/Non-Playoff Leagues

    Playoff Leagues
Leagues that choose to use Playoffs will have the option to split the league in 2 divisions or remain as one.  Regardless of league size and divisional alignment, there will be 14 weeks of regular season games, followed by 2 weeks of Playoffs.  The semi-finals will take place during Week 15 of the NFL season, with the League Championship taking place Week 16.  There will be no official games scheduled for Week 17 in Playoff Leagues, however owners will still be able to set their starting lineups, and their teams will still be scored by our system as they had during the regular season. But there will not be a head-to-head matchup scheduled.
In a Public League, once the league creator selects the use of Playoffs or no Playoffs, then the league cannot be changed. In a Private League, the League Creator can change whether the league uses Playoffs or not, up until the date of the draft.  However, after the draft has taken place, the option to use playoffs cannot be changed.

    Non-Playoff Leagues
A league that does not use Playoffs will play a full 17 week regular season.  The winner of the league will be determined by the team with the most number of wins at the end of the season and tie breakers will be used if needed.

    League Schedule

Once the league has been filled, and the draft has been held, you can click on the H2H Schedule link in the left side menu to view a full schedule of your leagues games for the season. Each week you will match up against one of the other teams in your league. The schedule depends upon your league size and all schedules are determined at random.  The schedule will not be displayed until after the draft.

    Playoff Leagues
The regular season schedule will last 14 weeks, with the semi-finals of the Playoffs beginning Week 15, and the League Championship to be held Week 16.

The top four 4 teams in the league compete in the semi-finals. Teams are seeded 1-4, with the division winners seeded #1 and #2 regardless of overall record.  The 2 next best teams, regardless of divisional affiliation, are then seeded 3-4 based on overall record.  Team 1 plays 4, Team 2 plays Team 3.  Winners play for the League Championship, losers play each other.

Teams 5 through 8 compete in a “consolation bracket”.  Teams are seeded 5-8 based on overall record, regardless of divisional affiliation.  Team 5 plays Team 8, Team 6 plays Team 7.  Winners play for the consolation championship, losers play each other.

Teams that don’t make the playoffs will still be allowed to set their lineups and have their teams get scored through our system.

There are no official games scheduled for Week 17 of the NFL season because many NFL teams do not play their best players that week, in preparation for the NFL Playoffs. Therefore, Fantasy League Championships are held Week 16.

    Non-Playoff Leagues
An 8-team league will play every team in their league at least twice, and will play three teams, three different times.

A 10-team league will play every other team in their league twice, with the exception of one team, which they will play only once.

A 12- team league will play every other team in the league at least once, and will play six teams twice.

A 14-team league will play thirteen of the other teams in the league once, and will play four teams twice.

    Waiver Wire
Any active NFL player not drafted in the initial fantasy draft begins the season on waivers and any players released from a fantasy team are immediately placed on waivers. All players MUST go though the waiver process and clear waivers to become unconditional free agents.

These players will remain on waivers for no less than 48 hours and no more than 72 hours during which time any fantasy team can place claims on them (If he is waived at 11 PM, he will be on waivers for a little more than 48 hours.  If waived at 6 AM, he will be on waivers for almost 72.).  These claims are all held for evaluation by the waiver wire.  After the 48-72 hour claim period, in the middle of the next night (1AM – 9AM

), the waiver wire runs and awards the waiver players to the appropriate team that submitted a claim based on the waiver order.  The waiver order will be discussed in more detail below.

Any players not claimed within the 48-72 hour claim window will clear waivers and become unconditional free agents.  Free agents can be signed to any fantasy team on a first-come, first-served basis, and they will immediately be placed on that team's roster.

First Waiver Wire of the Season
After the season has started, waiver priority will be determined by the most recent league standings. The Waiver Wire Order is re-set each Tuesday at 12:00pm(ET) during the season. The first re-setting of the Waiver Wire Order will occur on Tuesday, September 12th. The team in last place in the league will have the best waiver priority position, and the team in first place will have the worst waiver priority position.  Each time a team receives a player from waivers, the team is placed last in the waiver wire order. Owners whose claims were unsuccessful, or did not make a waiver claim, move up the number of positions associated with the number of successful waiver wire claims processed.

    Making Transactions
To claim waiver players, go to the league’s home page and click on the link called “Waiver Wire.” From this page you will see all available players that are on waivers or are free agents.  The first column on the left is the “Action” column and the next column is the “Status” column.  If a player is a free agent, the Status column will say “Free Agent.”  If the player is on waivers, the Status column will show a date.  The date shown is approximately the date that the player will be awarded based on the claims that have been put in on him.  If the player is not awarded to a team, then he will become a free agent on that date.

You can also pick up a player via the "Player Search" box located the left navigation menu. Submit the first three lettesr of the players last name and a list of the player will be displayed. If the player is available there will be a "Claim" link next to their name.

When picking up players off the waiver wire, the statistic categories displayed will be different based upon the positions selected.(QB, WR,TE, RB, K, DL,LB,DB, etc.) The only statistics that are displayed for all positions are the G, FP, and FP/G.

*How to Pick Up a Free Agent
The Action column next to free agents will say Claim.  Clicking the Claim link will display a roster page where the free agent can be added to the fantasy team and corresponding players on the team can be shuffled to other positions and/or waived off the team to make room for the new player.  Submitting that page will bring up a confirm page and submitting the confirm page will immediately execute all moves.
*How to Claim a Player on Waivers
Claiming waiver players is slightly different.  First, click Claim next to the player. Doing so will display a page where a corresponding player can be designated to be dropped if (and only if) the waiver player is awarded to the team during the evaluation.  Submitting that page will bring up a confirm page and submitting the confirm page will log the claim as pending.
*When Making Claims Watch please note . . .
    - While the claim is pending, the team owner may delete the claim by going to the league home page and clicking the Pending Claims link.
    - When the waiver claim is ultimately evaluated, the player you chose as the one to drop to make room for the new player MUST be in the exact same place on your roster as he was when the claim was submitted or the waiver claim will be denied.  If the corresponding player to drop was on your bench when the claim was submitted he must still be on your bench when the claim is evaluated.  If the corresponding player to drop was in your starting lineup when the claim was submitted he must still be in your starting lineup when the claim is evaluated (though it is okay for him to be at a different postition in your lineup).  For example, if you put in a claim for Kerry Collins and specify that if you get Collins you will waive Rich Gannon, who was in your starting lineup, then you MUST leave Gannon in  your starting lineup until the waiver wire runs to award you Collins.  If you move Gannon to your bench, waive him, or trade him before the waiver wire run tries to give you Collins, you will NOT get him.In all cases, when the claim is evaluated, the final result of the transaction must leave the fantasy roster in compliance with game's 20 man roster limit or the claim will be denied.

    Example Waiver Wire Order

    Below is the Draft Order:

    1st        team 4  puts in a claim for player A, B & D, E (in that order)

    2nd       team 6  puts in a claim for player B, C, A, E(in that order)

    3rd        team 2

    4th        team 1  puts in a claim for player A, B, D E G F (in that order)

    5th        team 3

    6th        team 5

The draft order and results would be:

    1st pick – tm 5 – no claims

    2nd pick – tm 3 – no claims

    3rd pick – tm 2 – no claims

6th pick – tm 6 – gets no player (stays 2nd to last)

    In the fourth round:

    1st pick – tm 5 – no claims

    2nd pick – tm 3 – no claims

    3rd pick – tm 2- no claims

4th pick – tm – 4 would get no player (stays 3rd to last)

5th pick – tm 6 – would get no player (stays 2nd to last)

    6th pick – tm 1 – gets player F (stays in last)

The next day when the waiver wire runs, the order will be where the previous day left off:

    1st pick – tm 5

    2nd pick – tm 3

    3rd pick – tm 2

    4th pick – tm 4

    5th pick – tm 6

    6th pick – tm 1

    Trades
The Trade Desk link in the left side menu is your one-stop trading headquarters. Anything you may want to do involving a trade happens here. You can propose, accept or decline a trade. Even review pending trades between other league owners, if you feel the deal is unfair.  All trade transactions are free and unlimited.  When a trade is executed, all traded players go to their new teams' reserve roster.  The new owners will then have the option to activate the players as they wish.

    Proposing a Trade:
From your League Home page, click on Trade Desk.  Click on a team in the  Propose Trade section.  Choose Acquire next to players you want to acquire from that team.  After submitting, choose Trade for the players you want to trade to the other team.  Click the Submit Trade Request button.  This will send an email to the team to whom you made the trade proposal.
Note: The receiver of the proposed trade has 48 hours to accept, reject or ignore the trade. Once a trade is accepted none of the players in the trade can be moved by either team while the trade is being voted on. Additionally, there are almost no restrictions on the number of combination of players you may trade. Owners do not have to trade the same number of players or players from the same position. If you make a trade that will force you to exceed the maximum roster size of 20 players the system will not allow you to make any roster moves until your roster is within the maximum allowed.

    Canceling a Trade Proposal:
You may cancel a trade proposal any time BEFORE the trade is accepted by the other owner. From your league home page, click on Trade Desk. You will see all of the trades that you have proposed.  Find the trade you want to cancel and click on the Rescind This Trade Proposal button under the trade proposal.

    Accepting a Trade Proposal:
From your league home page, click on Trade Desk.  You will see all of the trades that have been proposed to your team.  Find the trade you want to accept and click on the Accept Trade button.Note:  If either team waives a player involved in the trade proposal before it is accepted and executed, the entire trade will be nullified.

    Protesting a Trade Proposal:
Once a trade has been offered and accepted, an e-mail is automatically sent to the other owners in the league. The trade will sit in the Trade Proposal Voting section of your league home page for 48 hours so the league can review it.  If you believe the trade is extremely lopsided or collusive, you may protest and vote against the trade. If a trade receives the maximum number of league member protests during the 48-hour review period, it will automatically be rejected. To protest a trade, click on Vote on Proposal link on your League Home page in the Trade Proposals Voting section. Find the trade you would like to vote on and click the radio button next to Yes or No, then click the Vote on the Trade Proposal button to register your vote.

Please protest responsibly. Do not protest a trade just to delay its processing.  Do not use offensive, abusive or vulgar language in your protest messages, as these messages will be published to the other members of your league. Do not use protest messages that contain no real information such as, “Because,” “This trade is unfair,” “This trade sucks,” “They won’t trade with me,” “I can make a better offer,” or the like.  Sandbox may remove owners for abusive or spiteful protest messages at its sole discretion and without warning.

All trades must go through the complete Voting Process, even if there have been enough YES votes to make it so the trade will not be vetoed. For example, in a ten team league even if 7 teams vote YES for the trade, the trade will NOT be processed early – it will still go through the complete 48 hour voting period. Owners are able to change their vote until the trade deadline.

    Position Eligibility

We assign each player a position when we add that player to the game. Players do not change positions once they are in the game. That is the case even for players whose position changes on his NFL team at any point during the season.

    Scoring

There is a universal scoring method that is used within Full Contact, though the league creator may choose to play through a standard Head-to-Head format, or the Head-to-Head Strategy format.

The universal scoring method is outlined below:
    Category Fantasy Points  (FP)
    TD 6
2 point conversion (rushing, receiving or passing) 2
    PAT (kicking) 1
    Touchback (kicking) 1
    Safety 5
    Field Goal 3
    Field Goal (50+ yds.) 1
Every 15 yards Rushing or Receiving 1
    Every 30 yards Passing 1
    Every 50 yards Returning 1
    Fumble (only if lost) -3
    Interception (thrown) -3
    Interception (caught) 4
    Fumble Recovery (Defensive) 4
    Sack 4
    Solo Tackles 1
    Forced Fumble 3
Blocked Kick (punt, field goal or PAT 5
    Pass Defended 1

Note: Athletes receive yardage points only for full 15, 30 or 50-yard increments. For example, a running back rushes for 102 yards and catches passes for another 61 yards. That athlete scores 10 fantasy points; 6 points for 90 yards rushing drop the extra 12 yards) and 4 fantasy points for 60 yards receiving (drop the extra 1 yard).  Athletes will not score negative points for negative yardage totals.

    * Return Yards includes yards gained on Punt Returns, Kickoff Returns, Interception Returns, Fumble Recovery Returns, Blocked Field Goal Returns, and Blocked Punt Returns.
** Passes Defended are defined as any pass which a defender, through contact with the football, causes to be incomplete.
*** Fumble Recovery - scored only if it results in a change of possession.

    Head-to-Head

This is the standard scoring method used by most Full Contact leagues.  Each week, your team will have a Head-to-Head match-up against another team in your league and Sandbox will track the stats of the players in your team's starting lineup and those of your opponent.  The universal Sandbox scoring system above will then be applied to those stats to get fantasy point totals for each of your players, as well as an overall team point total.  After all NFL games are completed for that week, the team totals are compared against each other and the team that scores the most fantasy points will get a win, while the team that scores the fewest fantasy points will get a loss.

The League Schedule is automatically generated depending on the number of teams in the league.  The schedule cannot be changed by the the League Creator or any other player.   Weeks when an NFL game is played before Sunday (Thursday and Saturday games),owners will have 2 deadlines to set players in their starting lineup - an Early Deadline that affects all players whose teams play in one the early games, and a regular Sunday deadline that affects all other players.

All NFL players whose teams play in one of the early games will be locked into their roster position at the Early Deadline (kickoff of the first early game on either Thursday or Saturday), while changes and edits can be made to all other players' status until the regular Sunday deadline.

    Head-to-Head Strategy

Head-to-Head Strategy scoring is ideal for leagues that want to take their fantasy football to a new level of analysis and strategy.  This type of league also uses the universal Sandbox scoring system, and operates just as a regular Head-to-Head league does, with weekly match-ups against other teams in your league, but with one fundamental difference: Your team can affect the fantasy points scored by your opponent's team, based on certain offensive and defensive players that are starting for both teams.

The three athletes you start in the Def. Flex positions will increase or decrease the fantasy points earned by your opponent's WR and RB, based on the below formulas:
    *  Defensive Linemen (DL) hit the holes and go for the ball when it's behind or near the line of scrimmage. They feast on a team's running backs. A team's fantasy points from Running Backs will be penalized by 10% for each DL starting against them. Of course a DL isn't very effective in the secondary, and will usually get burned any day of the week. A team's fantasy points from Wide Receivers will receive a bonus 10% for every DL started against them.
    *  The Defensive Backs (DB) are the quick guys who love to do their best Mack truck impression on an unsuspecting WR over the middle. They make a living by rendering the opposing team's air attack useless. A team's fantasy points from its WR's will be penalized by 10% for each DB starting against them. In order to pester the receivers and watch the QB, most DB's play off the line and fall into coverage leaving the run stoppage to the big guys up front. A team's fantasy points from RB's will receive a bonus 10% for every DB started against them.
    *  The middle men of the game who try to do it all are the Linebackers (LB) on defense, and the Tight Ends (TE) on offense. LB don't add a bonus or a penalty to the opposing team's offense. Likewise, TE do not receive a bonus or a penalty from the defensive athletes started against them.

Example: You are starting one LB, and two DL in your three active Def Flex positions. Your opponent is starting one RB, one WR, one TE, plus two more WR and one more RB in the Off Flex positions. Because you are starting two DL, there will be a -20% to your opponent's total fantasy points from RBs. There will also be a +20% to your opponent's total fantasy points from WRs. The TE position is not affected by any defensive athlete, and the LB provides no bonus or penalty to any offensive athletes. Say your opponent's fantasy points broke down like this: QB = 17, RB = 16, WR = 10, TE = 4, Off Flex (WR) = 9, Off Flex (WR) = 2, Off Flex (RB) = 19, K = 9, Def Flex (LB) = 5, Def Flex (DL) = 5, Def Flex (DL) = 3. Their total fantasy points, before the strategy adjustment would be 99, and after the strategy adjustment (- 20% from RBs, + 20% to WRs) would be 97, as shown below.

    17161049219955399-4+297

Note: All bonuses and penalties are rounded to whole numbers for Strategy scoring.

Another section is added to the H2H Match-Up page to show how many fantasy points were added to or subtracted from both team's total score based on the Strategy scoring. The bonuses and penalties are then added up with the rest of your fantasy points to determine your team's total fantasy points for the week.   If you have more fantasy points than your opponent after the Strategy Adjustment, you will win the game for that week.
